Kenya recently underwent a series of numbering plan changes as detailed below. Phase 1: Effective 30 June 2002 mobile prefix for Safaricom changed from 72 to 722 Phase 2: Effective 7 December 2002 area codes were standardized to two digits. See below.
Phase 3: Effective 30 July 2003 phone numbers were standardized to seven digits in Nairobi and Mombasa. Further details may be obtained from the Communications Commission of Kenya.
